Weird Right Triangle Problem

by anand.quantum Thu Aug 22, 2013 11:26 pm

Hi I came across this on a old MGMAT online posting - I am not able to see the complete solution and I want to understand the problem solving process. Here's the question

mgmat-cat-1-similar-triangles-t3642.html

I am able to get the the point if the required answer being the ratio between PS/RS. Then i resorted to backsolving from the answer based on the choices given. Is there any other way to figure out the sides? I applied SAS, AAA and SSS principles of similar triangles - but I am not getting anywhere. Let me know.

Thanks
Anand

hi,
please post your question on the thread you linked to. thanks.

we don't want multiple threads about the same problem; that will just make everything harder for everyone.
especially when you've already located an existing thread!
