Using My Score in the Distant Future

by lfung425 Thu Nov 19, 2009 3:00 pm

Hi,
I don't plan on using my score until 3-4 years down the line. The reason why I am taking the exam now is that I plan on working abroad for the next 2-3 years. Can anybody provide some feedback on whether I will be at a disadvantage if I don't use my score within the next 2 years? Thanks.

Your scores are valid for 5 years from the date of your test and most schools will accept those scores.

There are some schools that require the test to be taken more recently - for example, within 3 years of your application - but not many schools do this. If you already know where you want to apply, check with the schools directly to see what their policy is. (Though be aware that they can of course change that policy in future.)
