usage - basing on vs. based on

by alicegmat Tue Aug 23, 2011 8:41 am

Hi!

The correct form of 'to base on' is : I formed a team based on xyz values.

Is the version below correct?

Basing on xyz values, the team was formed.

I am particularly concerned whether the idiom basing on is correct.

Thanks! :)
Alisha.

Hi Alisha,
That would not be correct; in the sentence you provide one would also use "Based on".
