Hi Dear Ron!!!

Thank you for your replies! :)

After reading your posts, I realized that, clearly, I made two critical mistakes:

in general, if you're actually "plugging" specific numbers into a VERBAL problem ... don't. just don't do it.

1. Approaching this question in a wrong way

choice (e) is irrelevant because we're talking only about businesses whose clients are retired.

2. Not only approaching this question in a wrong way, but also approaching with a good amount of efforts that are unnecessary

I will keep your advice in mind! :)

the best way to avoid this kind of mistake ^^ is to personalize the situation in the argument.
if it's just black text on a white screen, it can be difficult to discern what's relevant and what's not.
on the other hand, if it's a situation in which YOU are directly involved, that distinction will become quite pronounced.

since this argument is about "businesses that cater to retirees", just imagine that YOU own a business that caters to retirees in florida. e.g., you arrange social events for retired people (who might otherwise be socially isolated).

if you can imagine yourself in that situation, it will be very clear that, when someone from florida moves somewhere else to retire, your bottom line isn't affected. those people were never your clients in the first place, so it doesn't matter when they leave.

Yeah! That's a very interesting point!

It's now even more make sense to me with the way of thinking you suggest ;)

[i've seen evidence that this is a gmat prep problem, so let's allow it to stand.

I see Ron considered it as legitimate, so this question should be all right

the issue is not whether the question is "all right", nor is it a matter of my opinion. the issue is whether we're allowed to host the problem here.

if the problem appears only in the OG, we're barred from hosting it. on the other hand, if it appears in the free GMAT PREP software—even if it appears concurrently in the OG—then it's fair game.

well... only problems from the free GMAT Prep software. if a problem is from one of the paid question packs, it's banned just like an OG problem.

also, make sure to post GMAT Prep problems in the correct folder (i.e., not this one).

and, finally, please search the forum before posting-- this forum has been here for many years, so, by this point, just about every problem in the free software is in here somewhere.
