Time before the exam start : can I write stuff ?

Hello guys,

I had a simple quick question. As soon as I am seated in front of a computer at the GMAT center, following the essays, before my maths questions. Am I allowed to write some stuff to prepare my maths part by the end of my essays ?

I have issues remember all primes number and I found a "trick" to find them all between 2 and 97 (writing all numbers from 1 to 100 and then eliminating the wrong ones).

You cannot write anything while the test is not "live" - you can't even sit at your computer for any length of time between sections. If you want to take the break between sections (and you should do so), you have to leave the testing room.

You can write anything you want during the essays, so you could train yourself to save a little time there and write out the numbers then. I have to warn you, though, that the proctors will sometimes automatically take your scrap paper after each section and give you new scrap paper - even if you want to keep it. So you can try it, but just be aware that they still might take it...

The must important prime numbers are the smallest ones, so the other thing you could do is just memorize these:
2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37

It's possible that you'll have a question requiring you to know a prime number higher than that, but you also may not.

Thank you for your reply. That's really helpful.

I do know the primes from 2 to 37 I think but after that...it's hard.
I already saw a question from a GMAT book asking the prime numbers from 50 to 100...and I have to say that going one by one took ages for me :/

I would seriously consider what you said about the notes. I am used to write essays and I can write really fast on a keyboard so i'll try to grab 5mins from the second / first essay to write down some maths numbers I need help with!

Moreover some friends already took the GMAT in the center I want to go to. I will try to ask them if they know more about the proctors switching drafts (as I don't use drafts for the essays).
