thinking of rescheduling GMAT....

by crushed Sun Jun 29, 2008 6:00 pm

I have been studying diligently for the past month. In fact, I studied everyday, addressing all by weaknesses. I admit, I could probably use more studying, but my test is coming up soon and I don't want to push it back.

I recently took at MGMAT and got a 670 and then got a 640 on GMAT Prep. Today, I took a Kaplan CAT (2008 ed), and got a 540! I am devestated and infuriated at myself.

Should I reschedule? I do I go from 640 to 540?!?!?

I have never examined Kaplan's algorithm (I couldn't of course - they wouldn't show it to me!), but from my time on Beat the GMAT, I've seen lots of people complaining that Kaplan's algorithm consistently scores people 100+ points below where they score on other practice tests, including GMATPrep. So I wouldn't use that as an important indicator of your score level. GMATPrep is the most important - that's the real algorithm with real, past test questions. Focus on that one. :)

I did push it back a month. I hope I don't burn myself out, but I just didn't feel ready, not that I will ever feel ready. Thanks for answering my question.

Just don't forget what you typed. You'll never feel totally ready - nobody ever does. Be careful not to keep pushing it back just because you don't feel ready. You'll always feel like you could do more. :)
