Test Day Scheduling Advice

by andreas.apostolatos Wed Mar 24, 2010 5:02 pm

Hi all,

Am excited to start a MGMAT course this coming Tuesday. Regarding registration for the actual test, is it best to set a date now within 2-3 weeks of the scheduled course end, or allow for flexibility? I'm sure it varies based on the person, but was wondering if the MGMAT team recommended taking the actual test within a certain timeframe from completing all the coursework and accompanying preparation.

Thanks much!

In my experience, most of my students wait between 2 and 6 weeks after the course before taking the test, and most of those who take it within 2-3 weeks tell me they wish they had another couple of weeks.

Most people don't get all of the homework done during the course - life intervenes in various ways and some stuff just doesn't get done on time. Then, most people really need 2 to 3 weeks (at least) to do a comprehensive review after they've actually finished all of the course assignments.

You don't need to schedule the official test right now. The course runs for 9 weeks and then you're going to want at least 2 to 3 weeks, so that's 11 to 12 weeks out. Wait until at least halfway through the course to make a decision based on how things are going - and, if you have the flexibility, you can wait even longer than that.

Good luck with the class!
