For future reference or for anyone else reading this:

If you finish a section early, your break starts immediately and it still lasts only 8 minutes. You can, however, just sit in the room with the last question still on the screen and take a "break" before you finish the test - just let the clock keep running down.

If you put an answer in and then the timer runs out, the computer will accept whatever answer you had in.

You can eat or drink anything you want on the break, but you obviously have to have it in your locker, since you only have 8 minutes. I'm not sure whether there are differences in how quickly the caffeine gets delivered to your body if the coffee is hot vs. cold, but you could always buy an insulated thermos if you prefer your coffee hot. :)

My test didn't go well. I dropped to 700(Q51, V34); I knew while going through verbal questions that I'm not doing well. RC questions were easy but SC and CR were probably tricky - I was working at probably 70% efficiency. My speed was low and I was stuck between last 2 options for CR.

Overall, I think that I have a lot more potential than what my score says and that I didn't do well mostly because of bad coffee habbit. Cold coffee definitely doesn't work. My whole face was red hot during verbal session; I was stuck between 2 options again & again. I was slow for I finished Quant just 3min before deadline even though I almost always finished Quant 15before deadline in mgmat tests.

8min break is closed to nothing; should have made the habbit of finishing Quant(1:15)+Verbal(1:15) in one sitting of 2hr30min - I'm taking test again in a month and this time would make a habbit to not take coffee or break.
Thanks & Regards,
Syed

Sorry you didn't get the score you wanted - but, still, 700 is fantastic!

This sounds like both nerves and mental fatigue were affecting you. It's important when preparing for next time to make sure that you're prepared for the mental stamina needed and to make sure that you don't burn yourself out in the few days before the test. Think about athletes - you want to be very rested before the championship match.

Also, on verbal, do not agonize back and forth between two answers. Once you're down to 2, compare them once more, then pick and move on. Agonizing back and forth doesn't actually increase the odds that you'll get it right - all it does is waste time and tire you out.

Agree that 8 minutes is almost nothing, especially because you have to sign in and out of the room. DO take the break though - if nothing else, getting up and walking around for 4-5 minutes will help revive your energy. And you should have something to eat and drink even if you don't feel the need - your brain needs the calories.

If you really want hot coffee, buy an insulated thermos. Otherwise, bring something else to eat and drink.
