Study Plan Help

by polowear1 Thu Jul 30, 2009 12:34 pm

Hi. I am new to the GMAT and the forums here. I have ordered all 8 MGMAT books, the OG 12, OG verbal/quant review guide. I am looking to study for at least 2-3 months prior to taking it. My first practice exam was split 50/50 on score, I am not too proud of it. What is the best possible way to approach the exam? Should I just start in order of books 1-8 or work on one quant subject a week and DS or Problem Solving, then switch it up to the verbal? Thank you. I appreciate your help.

I'm just about completely through the course, and my scores have gone up dramatically. What has helped me the most is the spreadsheet manhattan provides which is essentially a ready-made study plan. They include this as part of the class, but you can also order it separately I believe. I have found this invaluable, and highly recommend sticking to this study plan provided within the spreadsheet.

As JD said, use the study organizer provided with the material. It's very detailed.

Also, try to find out your weaknesses and focus on those specifically.

Thanks for the replies. Where is this study plan guide that both of you mention? I ordered the 8 pack of MGMAT books and the practice stopwatch simulation set. Is it somewhere in the books? Thanks for the help again! I appreciate it greatly.

There are two levels of syllabus. The overall study plan is free to anyone and can be found here, under the Highlights section: http://www.manhattangmat.com/freegmatlearningforum.cfm

It's called "Official Manhattan GMAT Course Syllabus." If you're not in one of our courses, go download this and see whether you think it would work for you (note: it includes assignments for everything, so you may not have purchased all of the resources it references).

There are also two Excel spreadsheets that are available to students taking the course: one with very detailed assignments based on the overall syllabus (above), and another that allows you to keep track of your work within the Official Guide books.
