economics. Yet whereas mathematics and history are
required courses in the high school curriculum, home
economics is only an elective, and few students choose to take it.

What are we trying to solve or find?? Must be true/main point/ paradox??
If it is must be true then how is option c the correct answer (sorry to post the answer) because option c is giving a suggestion.
The fact I couldn't understand the stem question is demotivating. I spent a lot of time on the question to understand the reasoning for option c but couldn't.
