Some Queries

Hi everyone

My GMAT is on 9th July.

I have attempted 2 MGMATs and scored 710 and 640. My other scores include: 750 in Kaplan and 720 in Veritas Prep.

I have also attempted GMAT Prep CATs, scoring 740 and 730 respectively. I plan to attempt them once more, just before the 9th.

Based on the scores above, can you please tell me about the kind of score I can expect on the actual GMAT?

I had one more query. As I mentioned, I scored 740 in GMAT Prep 1, Quant-50 and Verbal-40. I got 9 incorrect in Quant and 10 incorrect in Verbal. In GMAT Prep 2, I scored 730 even though I got 6 incorrect in Quant and 8 incorrect in Verbal.

Could someone please help me understand this apparent anomaly?

Plan to attempt the other MGMATs in the next 4-5 days.

First, don't take a CAT more than once a week - complete waste of time. If you want to know why, read this:

Do not take a CAT within 5 days of the real test. That's like running a practice marathon a few days before the real thing - you'll just burn yourself out. :)

The results you report are not an anomaly - that's how the test works. The scoring is not based on # correct. The score is based on the difficulty level of the questions that you answer correctly vs. incorrectly. It's possible to get a few more wrong and get a higher score or vice versa - it just depends on the difficulty levels of the questions you are answering correctly.

Assuming that you have been taking the tests under 100% official conditions (including essay, IR, and number + duration of breaks), your results are looking good!
