by ASMAA997 Wed Jun 22, 2016 12:22 pm

My Question is can we use Smart Numbers in DS Problems?

ex:
Is x>y ?
1- x=y+2
2- (x/2)=y-1

You can't use Smart Numbers exactly, not the way that it is used on PS. But you can pick your own numbers to solve the problems. The technique is called Testing Cases for DS and it works a bit differently than Smart Numbers. (And not only can you use it, but you should! Testing Cases is a great way to get through DS.)

Do you have our strategy guides? If so, look up the Testing Cases chapters in Fractions, Decimals, & Percents, Algebra, or Number Properties to see how this strategy works.

You can also look here (but I'd use the books if you have them!):
