"Similar to" versus "As with" versus "Like"

Hi Instructor,
I have questions in regards to the usage of Similar to. Pls kindly help.
First of all, the idomatic usage is Similar to, rather than similar with/as. Correct?
Second, whether we can replace" like" with "similar to"?
The example:

Like other singers, Monica used to be very poor in her young age.
Can we say Similar to other singers here? The same question is for "As with".

...and, yes, it's 'similar to' (not '...with' or '...as').
