Should I send my scores?

by skylerstein Wed Jul 01, 2009 1:26 am

I am taking the test on Friday, but am not planning on going to business school anytime in the next couple of years and have no idea where I would want to apply...

Should I still choose schools to send my scores to?

Also, on test day am I allowed to write on the notepad before the test starts..Like a timing guide as presented in the timing lab?

Hi - sorry I didn't get to this before Friday; I was traveling.

For future reference, even if you don't know where you might want to apply, you might as well go ahead and put 5 schools in. You get to do this for free right before the test; after the fact, it costs $28 / school! Also, the vast majority of schools now just have digital access to the database over the Internet, so what you're really doing is giving them permission to view your scores; nothing is sent to them in the mail. The schools pretty much aren't going to try to access your scores unless you actually submit an application, so it's not a big deal to give them access if you're not sure right now.

Technically, we are not permitted to write on the scratch paper except during the testing segments - so you could, for example, write down the timing guide during the essay portion. But they're supposed to stop you if you write at non-testing times (and other students have told me that they were, indeed, told to stop writing).
