Should I postpone my Exam Date

by debabrata15 Wed Aug 12, 2009 4:09 am

Hi All,

I am preparing for GMAt since few onths. However, I am not being able to give proper time as I am working can not take days off.

I have worked extensively on Official Guide-11th edition (4 times). I am also done with Kaplan's 800 and Math and verbal workbook.

I had been givne various tests and being able to secure an average score of 630, highest being 670 and lowest being 600.

Please guide me whether I should take more time (1 mnth) more fro preparation.

I am weak in following areas: 1) Data sufficiency : Making mistakes under time pressure

2) Critical reasoninig (Same weakness as above)
3) Sentence correction (Same weakness as above)

Please help

Thanks
Deb

What is your goal score? Generally speaking, you are ready to take the real test when your practice test scores (taken under full official conditions) are in the same range as the score you'd like to get on the real test. So, if you are currently scoring in that range (or higher!), then you are ready to take the test. If you are scoring below the range that you want to score on the real test, then you aren't ready to take the test.

By the way, most of my students work full time, so it's not a problem that you can't take days off of work to study. It just means that you have to spread your study over a longer period of time, but I think that's preferable. It's really hard to cram for this test.
