Do I need to have the sequence formulas memorized

Sn=Kn+x
Sn=K(n-1)+K

Sn=xK^n - and the recursive

I asked my instructor the exact question - he said no, you just have to know how to use the formula.

Agreed. It could potentially help, but for most sequence questions, they actually give you the sequence. But you do need to know sequence terminology - what things mean and how they work in general.

Nutshell: there are other, higher priority things to memorize.
