Sentence correction - doubt

Could anyone please let me know that which one of the following sentence is considered correct as per GMAT standards -

1) John is four years older than Mike.
OR
2) John is four years older than is Mike.

Sentence 1 is correct; you are comparing two nouns, John and Mike, and your comparison marker is "older than".

Sentence 2 would be okay if you changed the end to "Mike is" to preserve parallelism; however, the "is" is not necessary.
