Seeking: Correspondence Course Suggestions

by burtosarah Sat Aug 21, 2010 6:23 am

Hello all,

I will apply for an MBA next fall (2011) and wish to bolster my low GPA (2.9, social science degree) by taking a couple of online math courses (finance, calculus, economics, etc.). I am an American living in Beijing.

If you have any suggestions for American universities that offer such courses, I would be very grateful to hear them!

That is a great question (and a great idea)! I don't have a list of schools that offer such courses online, no, but I would think it wouldn't be too hard to find out with some Google searching. Try first for courses that are affiliated with established universities (as opposed to organizations that just specialize in distance learning or supplemental education); that would look better on an eventual transcript.

I just did a quick search and found programs at UNC (including a class on "calculus for business and social sciences") and University of Wisconsin. I'm sure there are others, so block some time out on your calendar and start researching! :)
