Sectional tests available on MGMAT

by nitika_singh Sat Jul 09, 2011 12:27 am

Hi,
I wanted to know whether MGMAT provides sectional tests apart from the 6 full length practice tests. My speed in Quant section is very slow and I want to cover each area topic by topic, practice alot of questions first topic wise, and also take timed sectional tests.
Please suggest which resource I should bank on.

Hi Nikita,

For each topic, MGMAT have a question bank which can be used under timed conditions. If you are not a course student then they need to be purchased separately.

Have you finished the OG questions and quant supplement?

Is your speed slow for all the topics or do you struggle with any particular ones? This is an important question to ask yourself as it may save you time on your preparation. Doing a lot of question in Quant helps. However, you can choose to do smart study by spending time on the topics that you struggle with. It is possible that you spend too much time on these questions on the test and that is why your quant skills feel slower. If you iron them out then maybe your overall speed will also improve.

Start with this general article on timing:

I agree with Sunil that it's a good idea to do more specific analysis to discover where you're spending too much time. Most of us have patterns and specific types of questions on which we do this - it isn't all questions randomly.

This article can help you to analyze your most recent MGMAT test:

If you'd like, you can share your analysis here and we'll advise you.

We don't do sectional tests, no, but a good source for something similar (when you're ready) is GMAT Focus. (www.gmatfocus.com) These are "mini" quant tests of 24 questions from the makers of the real test.

Don't do them right now, though. They cover EVERYthing, not just certain topics at a time, so you want to save them for when you feel ready to do a random mix of questions.

You can also make random mixes yourself from OG. Make sure to get different difficulty levels (higher and lower-numbered questions).
