Section Instructions

How much time do you get to read the instructions for each section?

The last time I took the test, it was only 1m per section (along with a 5min optional tutorial at the beginning). That certainly could have changed thogh - download the latest version of GMATPrep and take a test to see what the current conditions are like!

Will that give me enough time after the 8m break and before the section starts to put down my timing benchmarks? I don't think I came across it in the GMATPrep.

As long as you write quickly. :)

The 5-minute tutorial is all the way at the beginning, before the test starts. If you have extra time during the essays, you can also write your quant benchmarks down then. You'll probably need a new packet for the verbal, though, so writing down your verbal benchmarks during the essays probably won't work.
