What is the probability that the sum of two dice will yield

"What is the probability that the sum of two dice will yield a 4 or a 6?" (Word translations/ Probability/ Question 1 page 9) Let's take the sum 4. Imagine you roll 2 dice (not explicitly said sequentially, nor explicitly said simultaneously; but clearly not the same dice twice). Imagine y...

Re: What is the probability that the sum of two dice will yield

Thank you, pellucide. I checked the recommended thread. I don't want to be a pest, but I am not convinced at all. The other thread explains this in 2 ways: 1- assuming that there is a difference bt. the dice (e.g one red one white) when none is stated; this assumption seems to me the exact think tha...

Re: What is the probability that the sum of two dice will yield

Oh, I meant to say that if we assume that (1,3) and (3 ,1) are different, then this is equivalent to assume that (2, 2) and (2, 2) are also different (as different colors, or different orders). But what I am unconvinced is that it matters how the sum is made - for this problem. If it were difference...

'DATA' and 'MEDIA' are plural on the GMAT exam, correct?

I want to make sure that indeed 'DATA' and 'MEDIA' are plural on the GMAT exam, no exceptions. Can we confirm?

Thank you!

Independent from and independent of - clarification needed

Both idioms - independent from and independent of are accepted as valid GMAT idioms by official preparation material (VR 2nd ed page 292).

Please help make the difference between the two and give context. Thank you!

x is not y, but rather (of)/ a kind of z?!

Let's first agree that "x is not y, but rather z" supposes that x, y and z are of the same logical category (as in: cats are not oviparous, but rather viviparous) Perhaps then we can agree that "x is not y, but rather (of)/ a kind of z" is wrong? (as in: cats are nor oviparous, b...

Re: 'DATA' and 'MEDIA' are plural on the GMAT exam, correct?

Thank you.
I am going to be a pest: the post says that Oxford says that data and media are plural but does not say anything anything about GMAT.

Datum and medium - singular on GMAT - this is clear!

But data and media - are they singular or plural on GMAT?

Thanks!!
