As a shortcut, you can always use the following for such question types (digits repeating in all possible place values) - Two Digit Sum = 11 * (a + b) Three Digit Sum = 222 * (a + b + c) Four Digit Sum = 6666 * (a + b + c + d) I understand the answer to the question in the text book however I do not...

Equasions Ineq and Vics strategy guide

From Equations Ineq and Vics strategy guide, page 63 number 3. I understand how that you have to set the equation to 9, but how do you get (a + b)^2 as the answer from (A^2+ B^2), I get: A^2 + 4ab + b^2 = 9?

Geometry Strategy guide fourth edition P. 19 #10

I do not understand why they used the ending equasion: 21=10.5x? 10.5x represents the area for both the triangle and the ABCE, and 21 = only represents ABCE so how can 21=10.5x?

MATH CAT Exam 3 #12

For III: I thought that since x,y & p are consecutive integers and 'y' is a median then if p is odd, y^2 has to even..so 'x^2 has to be Odd, so xyz=even. So I answered 'D' which was wrong. Please advise, thank you

GMAT CAT Quant exam 5 #12

The integers A, B, C, and D shown on the number line above are all equally spaced. If C and D are equal to 5^12 and 5^13, respectively, what is the value of A?

Please explain the answer using an example with integers instead. I find the explanation with the exponents confusing.
