Re: A new study finds that the more hostility

I also met this problem. But I have some other questions. 1. Why "They" is not ambigues in D. 2. The more hostility people show, the more likely there are to be deposits. Is it right that we should use they because we have people in the first part of the sentence, and whether it is possible...

Re: SC Question Bank--Anne Frank

I still don’t understand why E is wrong. The official explanation refers to "pronouns ambiguity" but since even Tim from ManhattanGMAT Staff confirmed that "they" cannot refer to "a gentile Dutch couple" (singular), there is actually no pronoun ambiguity here. So what is wrong with E then? I don’...

Re: SC - Affording strategic proximity to the Strait of Gibralta

I see why B is correct, it is obviously superior to other choices. But I’d like to understand completely what is wrong with D. I see that "without that" should be "without it" to refer to Morocco. But is it all? Is "could never be secure" wrong? Why? And I also read somewhere that "secure about"...

Re:

I have a question about choice C. Not quite. The comparison is cooking vs. taking: cooking spices vs. taking spices (for medicinal use). That's okay. The issue is that we can't say "taking spices is done in large quantities..." So, as I understand the comparison in C is actually ok. But I ...

Re: Re:

I have a question about correct choice A. I didn't like A actually because of parallelism: neutrinos are harmless elementary particles that are produced in nuclear reactions and that interact very weakly with matter. I thought that in this case the second "that" was redundant and there is ...

Re: Before scientists learned how to make a synthetic growth

I have a question about C (correct answer). I don’t really understand why they use "past simple, past simple" structure in this choice. I mean since we have one past event and another past event that happened earlier, I thought we should use "past simple, past perfect "structure here, i.e.: Before ...

Re: The hognose snake puts on an impressive bluff, hissing

Can someone explain why we need a comma in the second part of the correct choice C (between "venom" and "and"). I mean if we remove "distractors" from the second clause, we basically get: " ... strikes, but it has no dangerous fangs and no venom, and eventually ......

Re: SC: With surface temperatures estimated at minus 230 degrees

At first, I thought that the choice A had the parallelism: "...moon Europa has long been considered far too cold to support life, and with 60 square miles of water thought to be frozen from top to bottom." or even more concise: "... Europa has been considered and ... thought ..."...

This is another question from GMAT Prep (test 2) related to the same passage. The passage is primarily concerned with (A) explaining why until recently scientists failed to recognize the risks presented by biocontrol agents (B) emphasizing that biocontrol agents and chemical pesticides have more sim...
