Re: Three grades of milk are 1%, 2%, 3% fat by volume

Is it possible to solve this problem using the teeter-totter method? I've drawn out the below but got stuck at how to execute: x ------------ y ------------ z x = 1 y = 2 z = 3 Total = 1.5 So seems like the ratio is 1.5x to 0.5(y+z). Thereafter, I wasn't sure how to continue or if this method even w...

Are Canadians viewed as international applicants?

Hi there, I'm wondering if Canadians are viewed as part of the international group of applicants or are we looped into the US/North American group? In the latter case, is there a disadvantage of being a Canadian applicant since you're assessed alongside the largest group of applicants? Thanks! Wendy

Verbal is stuck at 40-41! Help?

Hi everyone, First time posting on this forum! My exam is only four weeks away and my two GMATPrep scores from today (Sept 24) and a week ago were both at 710. The breakdown for the two scores are as follows: A week ago - 710: Q47, V41 Today - 710: Q47, V40 My previous MGMAT CATs' verbal scores were...

Re: Verbal is stuck at 40-41! Help?

Thanks Stacey! This is super helpful, and thank you for being so detailed with your advice and response. As I was going through my practice exam and error logging, I've already come across 3-4 questions that your points apply to exactly! Being able to see how your recommendations work in real time h...

Re: Verbal is stuck at 40-41! Help?

Hey Stacey, Your method of assessing verbal has been extremely helpful! In my practice now, I'm actually getting almost all CR questions correct (that was my main weakness). But the problem now is...for the really hard questions, I'm taking way too long to complete them. It's taking me about 3-4 min...

Local vs. International Volunteer Experience

Hi there! I'm currently debating between volunteering abroad for three months versus becoming part of a local volunteer organization. I want to get into a top MBA program and I know how important volunteering is. I've read on Poets & Quants before that international volunteer experience would gi...

Exact same score on 2nd attempt. Final 3rd time?

Hello! Just finished my second attempt at the GMAT and scored a 700 (Q47, V38), which is the exact same breakdown and score as my first attempt 3 weeks ago. In all of my practice exams using the official GMATPrep software, I was scoring V41+. I'm quite frustrated that both my exam day performances h...

Re: Exact same score on 2nd attempt. Final 3rd time?

First, I know you want a higher score, but congratulations on getting yourself to 700. That's not a small accomplishment! In order to figure out where to go from here, we have to try to figure out some idea of what's been happening on the exam. Are there any differences at all compared to what you ...

Re: Exact same score on 2nd attempt. Final 3rd time?

Hi Stacey, Just got the ESR for my second attempt and VERY shockingly, it seems that CR brought me down significantly this time around. My CR score was equivalent to 19 (22nd percentile), RC 38 (80th percentile), and SC 42 (94th percentile). In all of my GMATPrep practice exams and also the two offi...

Re: Exact same score on 2nd attempt. Final 3rd time?

Hi Stacey, Thanks for the detailed response! It's very helpful. I actually pushed out my next exam to the beginning of January to give myself more time to study and really tighten everything up. I will definitely look to focus on SC and CR, while maintaining what I have on RC. In terms of resources,...

Elaine Loh is awesome! (Los Angeles or Online)

I didn't see much of her name here, so I wanted to give my instructor Elaine Loh a special shout-out! Without her guidance, I could not have broken through the 700 barrier. I owe my entire 720 (Q49, V40) to Elaine's guidance, tutoring, and her holistic way of teaching. Content is not the sole focus ...
