I have a question though I disagree with the solution.

Statement A by itself is NOT SUFFICIENT, x could = 0, which is not odd.

You need statement 1 and 2 to be sufficient , as statement 2 guarantees x != -

Ron - just a clarification.

From the SC book, I thought if you had Present Participle modifier, the subject didn't have to touch, it only had to be in the sentence.

Or is Present Participle Initial modifier something special

I picked D, and don't get why it's wrong. Is something else wrong with the sentence? With is a prepositional modifier, it can be a noun or adverbial modifier.
