Hi, Saurabh Is this question possibly from the 1000 SC list that floats around the Internet? If so, just FYI - we're debating whether to accept this source in future because many of the questions from this source are not good representations of the actual GMAT. If you are studying from this source, ...

Hey - I'm taking on some of Andrew's forum duties, so not sure how soon he'll see this. Is this something you guys were discussing a while ago? I don't see a question attached here and I don't see another thread recently referencing OG #38. If you're a student in Andrew's class and just want to cont...

Tough question. And, FYI, OG explanations often leave a lot to be desired. :) The explanation is not claiming that required lacks a subject - rather, it claims that required lacks a complement. This is required of someone or something... but the initial option doesn't tell us what or who. To do this...

Almost perfect. Dropping a perpendicular to the hypotenuse does not necessarily bisect the triangle, though - bisect means to cut in half, so that will only happen if you have a 45-45-90 triangle. Otherwise, you will split the triangle into two different pieces. One useful rule to know: if you have ...

Hi, Carla If you are a student in one of our classes, you can sign up for your free half-hour weekly tutoring session and go over these problems with the tutor. If you are not a student but would like to go over these with someone, you can sign up for an hour of two of private tutoring (this is not ...

That's fantastic, Mark, thanks for your offer! There are not just hundreds, but thousands (if not tens of thousands) of idioms in the language. I'll definitely pass your suggestion along to our curriculum director, but I think idioms are a bit tough because it's like studying for a vocab test if you...

Got it - if you could, please post the entire question (including answers). I don't have my OG with me right now - but even if I did, actually, I'd ask that you post the entire thing so that others can see what we're talking about.

Hey - I live in SF, so I don't know! I would also post this query in the "ask student services" thread - they all work in our Manhattan office and can give you an idea of busy times, etc.

OG 10 verbal # 43

I rarely choose A immediately upon reading it because I want to read the other choices first. But I also know it is often the case that, when A is right, it sounds a little awkward... to try to trick people into NOT choosing it. So, I'd read that and think, "Huh. That's a little awkward." ...

Hi, Carla I'd be happy to help! Please post the entire question and answer choices for any questions you have. (I'm sorry that I can't do this for you, but I have to respond to everyone's posts and I wouldn't have time to get through everything if I also had to look up and post all of the questions ...

Got it! I thought it might be part of 1000 SC because so many versions of it have the wrong answers marked down. Anyway, hope my explanation helped!

I sent this thread link to our curriculum director - though, FYI, he may already have something like this in his big list of things he wants to do, or he may already have explored the possibility and decided not to do it for some reason - I have no idea! But thanks again for the suggestion! :)

MGMAT CAT question: A Triangle Divided

Oh, sorry - yeah, that could've been explained better in the explanation. It doesn't actually use a "different" way to calculate the area - it's still using the standard formula (1/2*b*h) - but using different bases and heights. So, I can use base = leg a and height = leg b to get Area of ...

Overcoming test anxiety

A lot of people have serious text anxiety on important exams - you're in good company. The solution tends to be fairly individual - it really depends both on the severity of your anxiety and what methods work for you. Some people try meditation, mantras (words or phrases to repeat to help concentrat...

GMAT OG 10, DS, #233

When you multiple or divide by a negative number in an inequality, the sign switches. In this case, when you multiply by (x+y) to move it to the right side of the equation, you don't know whether (x+y) represents a positive number or a negative number - so the problem splits into two parts: x-y >...
