Re: How we can estimate a fraction
One more approach could be an extension of what navdeep mentioned.
11/30 approx. = 1/3 (since we add 3 to 30)
6/20 approx. = 1/3 (we can remove 2 from 20)
1/3*1/3 = 1/9 = 0.11
Ans = 0.11 (120)
Thanks

Any specific reason you have "divided by 4" to come to a conclusion that all numbers should be odd?

Re: GMAT Prep DS Question
(1) n = (k+1)^3 / k
Since the numerator is k+1 and denominator = k, the remainder will always be 1
A - Suff
(2) k = 5
n not defined.
Ans = A
Thanks

Re: Algebraic Equations
If the problem is
y(3x-5/2)=y
3x-5/2 = 1 (hope the qst. means 5/2 and NOT (3x-5)/2 )
(6x-5)/2 = 1 (equalise denominator)
x = 7/6
Thanks

Re: How much time did it take a certain car to travel 400
Ron/Stacey - why shouldnt (1) work here?
D = 400
1st 200 miles took 2.5 hrs
D1 = R1 * T1
200/2.5 = 80 = R1
D2 = R2 * T2
200/R2 = T2 or 200/T2 = R2
T1+T2 = D1+D2/R1+R2
2.5 + T2 = 400/80+(200/T2).
We find T2, So total time take is T1+T2

coz many were below poverty line when the income increased by 20%. it should'nt add that much to the overall income.
