Re: can somebody help me out with this question?

Hi Ron, I am really anxious about the grammer about "THAN" My question: When should we use "That or Those" after "than" to point the previous n. For example: [redacted] Other analogy: (1) In addition to having more protein than wheat does, rice has a protein of higher q...

Re: GMAT Questions - Soaring television costs accounted for more

Why can not the sentence have exactly the same noun on both sides of the comparison? Could you give me more explanations and examples please? A comparison has to compare two different things . A comparison of something with itself wouldn't make any sense. E.g., The weather in Fresno is nicer than t...

Re: Advice needed on SC problem from ETS paper exam

C is right. The comma before of a river doesn't have anything to do with that phrase. The commas set off the phrase or warming , which phrase modifies calefaction . Without that modifier C would read simply New techniques in thermal-scanning photography, a process that records radiation from surfac...

Re: Since 1990 the global economy has grown more than it did

I agree with A but wouldn't it be clearer if it was re-worded as Since 1990 the global economy has grown more than it did during the past 10000 years from the beginning of agriculture ? Or is this already implied? Since it says "during the 10,000 years from the beginning of agriculture to 1950...

Re: GMAT Questions - Soaring television costs accounted for more

The weather in Fresno is hotter than in Chicago. this sentence doesn't work. it's constructed as "the weather ... is ... hotter than ____", so "___" should be "weather" (or something corresponding to that idea). The weather in Fresno is hotter than that in Chicago. &qu...

Re: can somebody help me out with this question?

also, there's nothing wrong with "those" itself. (not everything in an incorrect answer is incorrect.) the problems with those choices are (a) "less" and (b) the overall construction-- it's not permissible to write "these nouns are less/fewer than those nouns". don't m...

Re: GMAT Prep: she was less successful after

sorry, i can't tell what you are actually asking... perhaps you can clarify. (if you're asking about an answer choice that isn't actually there, that's generally an unproductive pastime; the choice that ARE there should present a sufficient challenge already.) Thank you Ron If I change C-Choice to ...
