"...and..." & "...,and..."- usage

Hello Instructors,

In a clause do we need a subject+verb after "...,and" or "...and"

example: .......and now included in every journal

Does the underlined part need it's own subject and verb, with our without comma?

Thanks,

Naren

Re: SC sound

Hello Ron, I need some clarification on your feedback (3rd page):- "__ed by someone/something" is a passive form. Someone/something is ___ed by someone/something else. "verbING" is an active modifier form. I.e., when "verbING" is used as modifier, it always means that s...

Re: SC sound

Hi Ron, Let me know if my understanding is right: If the the verb-ing is not part of the main verb then it's ok if it's in a 'by something/someone' / passive construction. You're right getting what the sentence means is the fastest and best way to eliminate wrong choices, but some times with really ...

Re: SC sound

Hi Ron, Sorry for not being clear. I was confused with the mix of active and passive mix since a fact is being described. After referring to the non-underlined part I see that the correct answer "its acoustic energy prevented from dissipating by....." is acting as a modifier which can be i...

Re: In late 1997,the chambers inside the pyramid

Hello Ron, I was comparing your explanation for option D on page 2 of this thread with – OG 12 – Q#112 correct answer C. - brain is widely... One question is using verb-ing and the other is a helping verb. So this rule of works only if it's modifier but not for verbs/helping verbs? Thanks for the he...

Re: In late 1997,the chambers inside the pyramid

Hi Ron, Sorry the question wasn't clear. In late 1997,the chambers inside the pyramid of the Pharaoh Menkaure at Giza were closed to visitors for cleaning and repairing due to moisture exhaled by tourists, which raised its humidity to such levels so that salt from the stone was crystallizing and fung...

Re: SC: A New York City ordinance of 1897

Hi Instructors,

I have a doubt on the structure of choice C & E, can you tell me if the below understanding is correct?

A New York City.....<verb-ing>....., required cyclists....

Is the verb-ing modifying --> ',required cyclists.....' ?

Thanks,

Naren

Re: In late 1997,the chambers inside the pyramid

Hi Tim,

I thought we needed to know who created the moisture, without that we would be guessing 'who or from where this moisture came'

Let me know if this valid and if there is proper way to find if it's not.

Thanks
