My findings are not in sync with official answer. Can someone explain?

thanks. my bad. when I looked at a DS with 2 variables, i assumed the answer as "C".

If x is an integer and 4^x < 100, what is x?

(1) 4^(x + 1) - 4^(x - 1) > 100
(2) 4^(x + 1) + 4^x > 100

please ignore this question. MGMAT explaination is very clear
