Re: Relative Pronoun Modifier

I always think this site is the premier GMAT Q&A destination.
Thank you Manhattan Staff.

My Question:

Is the "that" in Choice C acts as both the object of "most scientists agree" and the "that" in the relative clause to modify "a phenomenon..."

Re: SC set 27 Question 17 So dogged were Frances Perkins’investi

Hi,

Is "were" omitted in Choice E after "...her lobbying for wage and hour reform?" Because the second "were" is the same as the first "were".

Re: GMATPREP---Irradiation of food

Hi,

Since irradiation is no worse than cooking, if cooking is worse than irradiation, the proponents' argument is then misleading.

So why D is wrong?

Thanks!

Re: Concerned about the well-being of its eldery citizens

Hi Ron,

How about Choice C? Is it because the passage states "inflation has been negligible", this factor is a no longer a concern?

Thanks!

Re:

How about B? Some people said that "from when" is not right. Can "that" in choice B represents "the growth of the global economy"? Or "that" could only refer to one noun? Thanks in advance. you can't use 'that' in this sort of construction, because constructi...

Re: RC: Some historians contend that conditions in the United S

What's wrong with Choice C? Directly after mentioning that alliance, the passage says that the alliance "advanced the cause of civil rights". So choice (C) is false. In fact, if you were given a choice stating the exact opposite of what's in choice (C), that choice would be correct. This ...

Re: RC: Some historians contend that conditions in the United S

What does it mean by "providing a context"? What's your understanding of these words? I'm not trying to be an obstructionist here -- I just want to see how you're coming at this. "Providing a context" means, well, providing a context -- there's nothing tricky** here -- so, reall...

Hi, Is "were" omitted in Choice E after "...her lobbying for wage and hour reform?" Because the second "were" is the same as the first "were". Close. You're on the right idea, but the were should be was, and it would be more parallel to place this in front of...

Re: RC: Some historians contend that conditions in the United S

My understanding of "context" is that it's a "venue" or this passage simply provides a painting plate for those two opponents to paint their arguments and let the audience compare which is better. Exactly what it means. But this answer seems too universal to me since every artic...

Re: SC set 27 Question 17 So dogged were Frances Perkins’investi

If it's a correct answer, it's a correct answer. This is a really, really old problem (over 10 years old, if it's in "set 27"). The current GMAT won't test such oddly constructed sentences, so it's best to forget about this one altogether. Haha! Okay!~ Thanks for the note. Looks like Engl...
