Hi Ron, Stacey, Can we calculate like this: 10x+2y=5Z or 5(x+y) 1. y=10 sufficient to know x 2. z=(x+y)=16 sufficient to know x Therefore, D. yes, that's an excellent way to do it. BUT DO NOT, EVER , LEAVE THE SAME VARIABLE ON BOTH SIDES OF A LINEAR EQUATION. in this case, this means that you shoul...

Re:

Hi Jonathan, Even i chose C. My reasoning was that less supply could affect the market and hence the price. Logic states that decrease in supply would lead to an increase in price but thats an outcome of this statement and is not stated directly. C is directly evaluating an option of decreasing the...

Re: Taste buds are onion-shaped structures

Could someone please explain what is wrong with answer D?

"Each of which having" seems to be the problem, but I cannot see why.

I narrowed to C and D. Both seem grammatically correct to me.

Paying for AWA feedback

I know that feedback for essays will not be provided here and that I can buy GMAT Write on mba.com. However I would like to get feedback for all the essays I wrote during my MGMAT CATs. Would it be possible to pay online for a Manhattan GMAT tutor just in order to be able to send him/her the essays ...

Thank you! Yes, indeed, I do not want to meet with a tutor. I just want to receive feedback via email. I will send an email to the address you kindly provided.

Re: Scoring pattern in Manahttan CATs

I really wonder how the MGMAT CAT verbal scoring system was programmed. Although I got only two wrong answers in the verbal section of my last MGMAT CAT exam, my verbal score was only 45. Actually, I got 45 for each of my last four CATs, but I made 5 to 6 errors in the first three. Is it actually po...

Re: Most of the world's supply of uranium

Thanks for the insight! I have never looked at "Evaluate the argument" questions that way. So, "Evaluate the argument" questions are actually "weaken or strengthen the argument" questions!

Re: Scoring pattern in Manahttan CATs

Hi David, one thing to consider is that if you've taken a large number of CATs you may have exhausted the difficult problems in our database. It sounds like this may have been the case in your experience. If that is what is happening, you may max out at a particular score simply because there aren'...

Re: Because there are provisions.....

I do not understand what is wrong with answer C. Ok, I already know that comma + the ing verb form modifies the preceding clause. For example: Crime has recently decreased in our neighborhood, leading to a rise in property values. > The fact that the crime has decreased (the action) leads to a ri...

Re: The perimeter of a certain isosceles right triangle is 16 +

I think you can solve this one really quickly without doing any complicated calculation. We know the triangle is an isoceles right triangle, so we know the ratio of the sides of the triangles is: x : x : x * root(2) The perimeter of an isocelese right triangle is: 2x + x * root(2) The perimeter is 1...
