disjuncts

are disjuncts tested in GMAT? I have come across a question where a 'disjunct' option was shot down. Please help.

In this case, would the sentence be more appropriate(from a GMAT standpoint),if it used the noun 'increase' instead of 'increases' in A? Would that be incorrect because it is singular?

A semicolon is used to join two independent clauses, where second builds on the first. A colon can be used to join two independent clauses where the second completes the thought in the first clause.
