Unclear about a subject-verb agreement rule

Consider the following sentence: The invention of solid-state transistors (was/were) an important milestone in the field of electronics. According to rule of subject-verb agreement, we would use "was" if we were referring to "invention" and "were" if we were referring t...

Re: SC from previous posts : Navigators have known for thousands

Hi there, If you think about the logical construction of the sentence, it is the "clear picture" and NOT the "ocean currents" that has emerged. Grammatically too, this makes sense because prepositional phrases such as " of ocean currents" cannot be the subject that is b...

Re: "AGREE TO" OR "AGREE WITH"?

My take on it:

Agree to: usually to a an action or a principle; can be considered an active form usually requiring a verb eg. X agrees to do Y

Agree with: usually with a person or a principle; can be considered a passive form. eg. the x is in agreement with y

Correct me if I'm wrong.

IR Questions and Timing

I was going through my MGMAT IR& Essay guide and on pg.6 it lists the various types of prompts. In reference to two part questions, do the two responses equate to two questions or are they considered two parts of a single question? Today for the first time I logged into my OG 13 IR online questi...

Re: IR Questions and Timing

Hi Stacey, thanks for the insight. On another note, I've noticed that on the OG IR questions that have long passages, there are three questions associated with each passage. These are the same question types that took me 4 minutes to complete the first question. Is it safe to assume that such long p...

MGMAT CAT percentile vs score

Is the percentile algorithm slightly different on the MGMAT CATS? I did a CAT yesterday and my Q percentile was 77 - Q45. The GMAT 77th percentile corresponds to a 47. Was just wondering...

Re: MGMAT CAT percentile vs score

ok thanks jnelson0612. In any case I think I'm asking an irrelevant question that isn't going to help me get better. I should be focusing on review and practice instead of the algorithm. Please delete this thread if you need to. Thanks!

Are my MGMAT verbal scores inflated?

Hi guys, I have so far taken 4 out of the 6 MGMAT CATS. I have heard people say on different forums that if you score consistently well in the first few cats, you subsequent CAT scores may be inflated because you deplete the question banks of tough questions. Here are my verbal scores so far: CAT 1:...

Re: Coming to Mumbai!

This is awesome Stacey! I hope you have a good time. I live in Mumbai and the city is usually very welcoming towards foreigners. Have you made any plans to travel or is this trip strictly business? If you do, definitely get a hold of Lonely Planet India (I always reccommend this book to all my frien...
