Data Sufficiency

If a is a positive integer and 81 divided by a results in remainder of 1, what is the value of a? (1) the remainder when a is divided by 40 is 0 (2) the remainder when 40 is divided by a is 40 I dont understand how come statement 2 is sufficient?(as given in Advanced GMAT quant) How could 40, when d...

Please Help on SC

I am using Manhattan SC book for preparing toward my GMAT SC. I really learned a lot from this book but when it comes to the application, in tests, if earlier i was doing 3 right out of 10, now its 5 out of 10. Am i going wrong in using the book?
