Ron - Sorry for re opening thread, just one question here - is the best way to identify what's being compared is to drop the prepositional phrase and check whats being compared ?

if so could you please illustrate with an example or two many thanks.

Also can we eliminate C because of the comma before "nor" as the things that follow ",nor " should be a clause? - Is my reasoning correct here?

Can some one explain me why is B wrong? Is it because we are not talking about the profit of the company rather the company's fuel cost only. Had Question read Company's profit this year would be significantly lower then option B would be correct?

Is there any other reason we can eliminate option B?

The big difference between B and A is that in A *some* of the animals are clearly in trouble, but in B *all* of the animals are potentially in danger.
