Score Combos

by mrkamal Sat Jun 02, 2007 11:31 am

Hi,
Are there known approximate total scores for various combinations of V & Q performance? In other words, if you get a 90 V and 80 Q, what does that translate to for a final score? (600, 650, 700, etc.)
If you do have a scale, it would be great to see some listings, especially for the general ranges I outlined.
Thanks

MrKamal,

Though I was not able to ascertain "known approximate total scores" for various combinations, I did unearth some information that might be of interest. Below is an article written by one of our instructors.

http://www.vault.com/nr/newsmain.jsp?nr ... at_id=3071

Additionally, I have personally seen scaled scores of 750 in which the Quant score was only 86th percentile (the Verbal was 99th percentile).

Finally, students are beginning to post their actual GMAT test results on our "Test Day" thread, and there are other Internet threads available. From these you can easily devise a matrix of score combinations.

Thanks Dan. Very interesting article.
It would be great to just nail both sections and moot the issue (easier said than done)! But this info helps.
Best regards,

The link is a quant + verbal score converter to a 200-800 score. I've tried a lot of combos and found some flaws at the high end, but mostly, the number it spits out corresponds with what people are posting in their debriefs.
