*SC:Over 75 percent of the energy produced in France derives

by carriexu1988 Fri Sep 11, 2009 4:04 am

Over 75 percent of the energy produced in France derives from nuclear power, while in Germany it is just over 33 percent
A. while in Germany it is just over 33 percent
B. compared to Germany, which uses just over 33 percent
C. whereas nuclear power accounts for just over 33 percent of the energy produced in Germany
D. whereas just over 33 percent of the energy comes from nuclear power in Germany
E. compared with the energy from nuclear power in Germany, where it is just over 33 percent
the answer is C
What's wrong with D?

Can someone explains this

C and D have different meaning.

I believe that the intention of the author is to compare the proportion of nuclear power in France to that in German.

C means that in Germany nuclear power is 33% of overall energy produced in German.
D could be interpreted that 33 of energy in France comes from the nuclear power produced in German.

Hi,
I found the problem in a Gmatprep official software test.
I choose D as it seems to me more parrallel "energy produced in France...energy produced in Germany".
Please explain whether there are more errors in statements a,b,d and e that should be considered.
Thanks!

D has subject - verb agreement issue.

33% of energy .. comes...

C is right answer.
