Ron,

OA given as A.
Explanation is copied here: The correct answer is (A). (B) uses an incorrect verb tense "had been requested." (C) is wordy and also changes the logic of the sentence by saying that the grading system is somehow to be added to the curriculum. (E) commits the same error. (D) is awkward and needlessly uses the
passive voice.

Also, I've one out of topic question. How many questions should I get correct on average in verbal section to achieve a score of 40 or 40+. My average correct answers vary from 27-32. please advice me. I want to know this beacuse the tests I tried are paper based so I can't see or judge the score.

Thanks!

GeeMate.

yeah, well... what they wrote about (c) is just wrong. the wording in that choice - "be instituted in addition to the revised curriculum" - not only doesn't mean what they're insinuating, but actually can't have that meaning.
that's just not the right idiom for that meaning; the correct idiom in that case would be something ilke "instituted into..." or "instituted in..."

Also, I've one out of topic question. How many questions should I get correct on average in verbal section to achieve a score of 40 or 40+. it's hard to say, because of the adaptive nature of the test. if you really, really, really want to know the answer to this, your best bet is to take the GMATPREP tests over and over again, and then analyze the resulting data.

in any case, why to you want to know this?
even if we had the exact answer to this question (we don't), it would be completely useless information.
there is absolutely no way in which this information could help you on test day - and plenty of ways in which it could hurt you (because you could structure your studying in sub-optimal ways around it) - so you probably just shouldn't think about it.

i don't like (a) because of the placement of the initial modifier "in addition to the revised curriculum..."
i.e., to me, that choice seems to and be making a comparison between "the revised curriculum" and "the students".

this isn't an official problem, though; it's from a third-party source (and, furthermore, arco is a third-party source whose credibility has come into question at other times, too).
to really get a bead on the use of this sort of initial modifier, we honestly have to see an official problem that uses a similar construction; it's dangerous to make conclusive judgments from sources that are not official.
