Recalibrate Verbal

by Jimmy Mon Jul 07, 2008 9:40 pm

Stacey,

Has Manhattan considered recalibrating its verbal cat? I've gotten a V45 on approx 3-4 different Manhattan cats, but on the actual GMAT got a 39 Verbal. In addition, I've never broken 40 on a GMATPrep ever. Seems something might be a miss, since I've been able to consistently score high on the Manhattan cat.

We do track this type of data across our test takers (we ask our students to report their scores to us) and the current calibration really is in the middle across all test takers. There's still a wide standard deviation, of course, as there is on the real test. But the current calibration is what allows us to hold to the 50 point SD. (In other words, it is not consistently too high for everyone, although it apparently is consistently too high for you.) :)
