Fourth edition, CHapter 7, Passage G (Chaos theory)
Explanation to ques 5 rejects answer 2 on the basis of there being no mixing involved. This is in turn done because it's been proclaimed that a process similar to mixing of poppy seeds needs to be found and that the balloons example involves no mixing. However, the question does not ask to find a process similar to the mixing of poppy seeds explicitly. It just asks for an example of chaotic system, which does not require mixing as per the passage. So, I think that the rejection of choice (B) is not very logical. Is there a better explanation for choosing option (D)?

Your requirement to post the whole text is rather strange. I don't know if your course students get electronic texts, but to copy the whole passage from the book is a little bit time consuming. Don't you think so? Besides, I would say that most people reading this forum have Manhattan books. So, everyone can look it up himself, if he's interested. Also, I would suppose that your instructors should have your books.

Anyway, back to the question. I had the same problem with it and it would be great if someone could address the issue.

We still have the requirement to post the text - sorry.

We have very limited time to answer questions and (as I'm sure you've noted!) a LOT of posts to cover. (A) It takes longer to answer each post if we have to look up every question, (B) It's harder / more confusing for everyone to discuss when the text is not right there in the post, and (C) many people (both students and teachers!) are often traveling, at work, or otherwise without their books in any given moment.

Nutshell: if you would like to have a question answered, please post the full text of that question.

For an RC passage, where appropriate, you only need to post the relevant passage text - that might just be a couple of sentences or a paragraph.
