Hi tuichats,

Can you please specify what part of RC? Do you struggle with the reading of the passage or the actual questions?

Do you have any strategy with RCs? Do you take notes?

Thanks

Hi Sunil,
Its not the reading.
Most of the time I get a good feel of the passage. I even take notes but most of the time I get less than 40% of the questions right.
This is very critical as this is now the main area I struggle with in the Verbal.I have a few more days so I need a very very quick fix.
I have read about key words, I take notes based on this yet I do not get the marks. I have a very short time to improve.
Please help!!!!
Thanks.

Hi tuichats,

Do you tend to get the same type of questions wrong or is it a mix? By same type of questions I mean: inference, tone, specific detail, main idea and passage structure. Broadly speaking, all questions on RC fall into one of these categories.

Have you used MGMAT CATs and used the report generator that analyzes your results?

Thanks

Hi Sunil,
Inference, tone and passage structure are the big ones for me .
Details are not that hard.
So how do I get to do well in these types of questions?
Thanks a lot!

Hi tuichats,

Ron has done a couple of sessions on Inference and Suggestion questions recently - dated 26th April and 2nd June. Check these out:

Here is a good article by Stacey:

Also check out the following post from Ron:

reading-comprehension-tone-of-passage-t9370.html?hilit=tone%20questions

Search the posts and forums a bit more. I am sure there are other people who have had the same problems and discussed them.

tuichats, since there is little time left I will also strongly suggest that you take it easy with your preparation. In the remaining days, do not try and do a hundred RC questions and get exhausted. From your post, you seem too worried about RC. Don't worry, the positive thing is that you are OK with reading the passage and understanding it. So half your battle with RC is already won. Have faith in that knowledge. Go with a positive mindset and do your best.

Hope it goes well for you and let us know how it went. :)

Regards

Sunil
