RATE Of Questions Being Answered

by dapplegate Thu May 06, 2010 5:57 pm

Questions sit on here for HOURS & DAYS without a reply. I suggest requiring your teachers get on here and reply to X # of posts per day, week, or month.

I do appreciate qualtiy of help that's been given, but I know it could be MUCH better in terms of quantity.

I'm not looking for an explanation of why. If you feel the desire to defend MGMAT I understand. However, this is a call to action statement; no reply is needed.

And yet I will reply. :)

We offer this as a free service, open to the public. We've found over the past 1.5 years that, no matter how much time we add for teachers to answer questions, the result is just that even more people post even more posts. We'll add more time and get caught up for a week or two, and then the word will get out that people can get quick answers for free, and boom, we get inundated with an even higher volume of posts. So, basically, we can never catch up because the volume just expands every time until the wait gets long enough that people stop posting.

We're debating various changes but haven't made any decisions yet. One of the changes might involve turning this into an MGMAT-students-only service. Another might involve making it a paid service. We've avoided doing those things so far because we have wanted to make it free and open to everyone. If you have any ideas, feel free to let us know.

(Also, just speaking for the teachers: currently, the teachers who post here are paid for a certain number of hours per week and that's it. We all end up spending more, unpaid time on here; we're donating some of our time here every week. We do need to earn incomes to pay our rents and buy food and etc; we need to make a living too.)

I think it should be a paid service for those who aren't students.

Check out Dave Ramsey's mytotalmoneymakeover.com. I'm a member. I pay $89 a year... some pay $10 a month.

Anyways, he has a GREAT thing going there. I'd suggest signing up for a month or two just to check it out. While you're there, you may even get some great advice!
