Punctuation

by flesrutnevnier Tue Apr 13, 2010 7:35 am

Hi,

How should I properly punctuate a sentence that is composed of two independent clauses (X and Y) joined together with "and", which is followed by "more importantly"?

That is, which one of the following, if any, is correct?

(1) X, and more importantly, Y.
(2) X, and, more importantly, Y.
(3) X, and more importantly Y.

I think 3rd seems right. X, and more importantly Y.
