OG Archer

by kevin.busby1986 Tue Jun 18, 2013 11:54 pm

Hi,

I have a small question, in the OG archer, I see there are three categories of difficulties, 300-600, 600-700 and 700-800. However, when I do the exercises there are 4, easy, medium, hard and devilish. would easy-medium be 300-600, hard 600-700 and devilish 700+?

Thank you

Okay, I talked to our guy in charge of this and found out the story!

We published new explanations for quant OG13 earlier this year and, at that time, we also updated how we were labeling these. So, go with the new book ratings: easy, medium, hard, devilish. Those are more accurate than the older "number" rankings - which were just based on our own best guess. (We based the new ratings on a bunch of data we collected from actual students doing the problems!)

OG Archer still needs to be updated; someone's working on it, but it'll be a little while. So just go by the book. :)

Would it be ok to assume that medium difficulty questions are in the 600 range?

thank again!

Honestly, there's no real way to know for sure. :) We tracked how thousands of students answered these questions and then we split the responses up into 4 categories based on percentage correct. But no work has been done to try to match those up with real scoring levels.

We're also in the process of slightly tweaking the names (easier, moderate, harder, and devilish) to reflect that these are really *relative* rankings - moderate questions are more difficult than easier questions, etc.

But... if I were you... I'd think of the "moderate" questions in the 550 to 650 range. Very roughly speaking. :)
