Confused about which OG problems represent assigned sets

by josephgreer Tue Sep 18, 2007 11:07 pm

I'm quite confused about which problems in the OG books I should be answering.

The syllabus is vague, and the study organizer and study guides conflict in terms of problems suggested to be completed in the OG.

For example, the Study_Organizer.xls suggests in week 1 I should complete OG Orange questions D25-D44, which are all number properties questions.

However, in the back of the Number Properties Guide only 10 OG Orange Diagnostic problems are listed to be completed.
They are:
D13, D15, D17, D18, D23, D26, D41, D42, and D44.

My question is, when the syllabus says for Week 1, my homework should be OG Number Properties, exactly what is expected?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Josh,

I do understand that the differences between the syllabus, problem sets, and study organizer can be confusing, but here's a simple explanation that will help you complete your homework:

The syllabus is the most general indicator of what you need to accomplish on a particular week and represents the minimal amount of work you should do to fully keep up with the course.
The problem sets in the strategy guides present you with more specific questions that you need to answer to keep up with the class as well.
The study organizer, on the other hand, goes even more in depth. If you have more time each week to do homework, we suggest completing not just the problem sets, but also the questions in the study organizer.

Hope this helps!
