Parallelism question

by usmanqd Tue Jan 01, 2013 6:33 pm

Investing in developing countries poses big risks, ranging from the potential of political instability in some countries to the shortage of regulations to protect investors and a serious lack of information about investments in others.
Above is a correct sentence that I have modified from its original version. My question is that how is parallelism maintained in this part of the sentence. "the shortage of regulations to protect investors and a serious lack of information about investments
Can someone please help answer this question?

"potential of political instability", "shortage of regulations" and "lack of information" are parallel.

I have learnt from this forum that when figuring out parallelism, first go for parallel marker and then start figuring out parallelism from 'right to left'. Here the parallel marker is AND (highlighted above). Now, start figuring out what is parallel after the AND and before the AND. Parallel means you have to find if the parts of sentence are playing same grammatical role in the sentence.

If you will follow all the above, you will find what mukesh.mulchandani has said is right. :)
I Can. I Will.
