IRMA was established in 1979 at Anand, Gujarat with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), Institute of Rural Management Anand is considered to be one of the biggest institutions in India in rural management field.
The revolution made in the dairy products stimulated the growth of IRMA which linked the rural needs with professionalism which gave the brand "rural managers". IRMA is a front runner in providing the rural managers to the country.
The objective of IRMA is to create a new engender of rural managers, help rural organizations, to strive for the rural people who suffers from trials and turbulence everyday. It also regulates public policies.
PRM s a two-year residential programme leading to a Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM). PRM comprises four different segments - classroom, fieldwork, organizational understanding and management training. It emphasizes practical and experimental learning rather than theoretical approach. IRMA Courses
1. IRMA Post-Graduate Programme in Rural Management (PRM)
PRM is a two-year residential programme leading to a Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM). PRM comprises four different segments - classroom, fieldwork, organizational understanding and management training thus emphases on experiential learning. PGDRM is recognised as the equivalent to a master’s degree by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Courses Eligibility
Eligibility :- Graduates in any discipline with a minimum of 15 years (10+2+3) of education and having 50%($5% for sc/ST/Pwd) aggregate marks or an equivalent GPA from a recognised Indian or foreign university/ institution are eligible to apply. Candidates, who expect to fulfill the eligibility requirements before, June 11, 2012 may also apply. Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply
2. Fellow Program in Rural Management (FPRM)
This is a Doctoral Program for people who wish to acquire specialized knowledge, skills, and attitudes for positions requiring conceptual and visioning skills in the co-operatives and development organizations. The FPRM is a full time residential program requiring a minimum of three years to complete. The specialization areas in this fellowship programs are
(a) Management of Collectives
(b) Agribusiness/Rural Marketing
(c) Natural Resources Management
(d) Development Management
(e) Micro-finance Management
(f) Governance and Livelihoods
(g) Rural Infrastructure and Services Management and
(h) Public Policy and Non-profit Management.
Courses Eligibility
11th Fellow Programme in Rural Management (FPRM 2012)
Eligibility :- Candidates with any one of the following
- Post graduation in any discipline from a recognized institution with 55%marks, and 50% marks at graduation level;
- PRM from IRMA
- Four- Year professional degree (Engineering, agriculture sciences etc.)with 60% marls and at least one year work experience;
- Five-year professional degree (medicine, veterinary science, architecture etc.) with 60% marks are eligible for admission to FPRM. SC/ST/OBC/ pwD candidates are eligible for 5% relaxation in the marks specified above. Candidates , who expect to full fill the eligibility requirements before June 11, 2012 may also apply
Fellowship :- Every FPRM participant receives a fellowship of Rs. 14000/- per month till they clear the Comprehensive Qualifying Examination and then Rs. 16,000/- per month and a contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- per year for a period of 4 years.
Note:- IRMA written test score is to be used by Xavier institute of management Bhuneswar (XIMB) Indian institute of health management research (IIHMR) Jaipur and KIIT school of rural management ,Bhuneswar for their rural management program me .
