One Question from the Prep.

by patrickgong6688 Sun Aug 07, 2011 6:46 am

Alice's take-home pay last year was the same each month, and she saved the same fraction of her take-home pay each month. The total amount of money that she had saved at the end of the year was 3 times the amount of that portion of her monthly take-home pay that she did not save. If all the money that she saved last year was from her take-home pay, what fraction of her take-home pay did she save each month?

A1/2
B1/3
C1/4
D1/5
E1/6
I really do not know why the answer is D? I think the fraction of her take home pay she save shoul be 3/4.How come?

Thanks mithunsam.

patrick, you won't get any answers to specific test questions if you post them in this thread, because this thread is not for test questions. Please read (and follow!) the forum guidelines before posting.

This folder is only for general strategy questions, not content or specific test problems. Check out the problem folders and post in the relevant folder depending upon the source of the problem you want to post (and make sure to follow the rules about banned sources). If you are a course student, you can also ask about other problems or issues before or after class or during office hours.

Also, as mithunsam pointed out, search for your problem before posting. You might discover that it has already been posted, in which case, you might be able to read an explanation from a teacher right away and not have to wait at all to get your question addressed. If the existing discussion doesn't address your question, then you can add your specific question to the existing thread.
