One Month Until GMAT Retake

by rachelplevy Mon May 23, 2011 9:01 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to formulate a strategy for my retake of the GMAT in approximately one month. I just took it about a week and a half ago, and while I'm happy with my overall score, my quant percentile is lower than my goal (80th).

Before I took the GMAT for the first time, I created a very detailed study plan for the time after my course was over until my test. It included rereading all of the MGMAT quant strategy guides (skimming the parts I am comfortable with), taking 7 practice tests (5 MGMAT, 2 Official), and completing the entire GMAT quant review book. I'm unsure how best to focus my efforts this time around, especially because I've done a lot of the questions in the official GMAT Review book (everything on the MGMAT syllabus) and all of the questions in the quant review book.

So far, I've identified two topics that were on the test that I was uncomfortable with (advanced geometry and interest rates...wow were there a lot of interest rates questions). Any other suggestions? FYI, I will not be studying any verbal, only quant.

Thank you!

You did take our course? It sounds like you did. If you did take the course or one of our Guided Self-Study packages, then you're eligible for a free Post-Exam Assessment. This is a phone call with an instructor to figure out what went wrong and come up with a plan to re-take the test. If this applies to you, please send an email to studentservices@manhattangmat.com and request the Post-Exam Assessment.

That's definitely the best thing to do if you qualify, so go sign up right away if you do. If not, I could use some more data about your strengths and weaknesses in order to advise you. Use the below article to analyze your last (or last few) practice tests:

Then come back here and share, and we'll advise you. Alternatively, if you do the PEA and want to discuss the advice you receive or get ongoing support as you study, then come back here to tell us what happens during your PEA.
